The Dark Horse in the East

All season the Eastern Conference has been considered a two-team race, but over the last few months that has changed with the emergence of the Brooklyn Nets. After starting the season 10-21 the Nets were considered one of the biggest disappointments of the season, but since the start of 2014 the Nets have the best record in the NBA (27-11). They have propelled themselves into the Eastern Conference playoffs, currently sitting at the 5th seed. I guarantee the Nets will finish with the 4th seed. The Nets are built for the playoffs and could go on a post season run.

Many things have contributed to the re emergence of the Nets. Deron Williams is finally healthy and he is proving to us that he is still one of the best point guards in the NBA. First year head coach Jason Kidd seems to have past the growing pains of a first year head coach. The players now respect him as a coach and no longer see him as a player. Since the start of 2014 Paul Pierce has been playing some of the best basketball he has played in a few seasons. The emergence of Pierce, the health of Williams, and the growth by coach Jason Kidd has transformed the Nets into a playoff threat.

The team is built for the playoffs. With proven veterans in Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Joe Johnson the Nets are ready to make a run. This season they are 3-0 against Miami the “Prohibited Favorite. The Nets and the Heat will meet in the Eastern Conference finals. The Nets will beat the Pacers in a second round matchup. The Pacers started off hot but have not been the same. Paul George is having one of the worst months of his career. The Nets are headed up while the Pacers are headed down. The Nets and Heat in the Eastern Conference finals will be a great series. Anything could happen. Could the Nets make a run? I think so.
