The Hot Seat

The NFL season is coming to an end and that means the worst day of the year for coaches is coming, Black Monday. The day after the NFL season many coaches get fired and it has been deemed Black Monday. Looking at all the teams this season, there may be 8 open jobs after Black Monday. In my opinion the coaches guaranteed to get fired are Mike Shanahan of the Redskins, Dennis Allen of the Raiders, Rex Ryan of the Jets, and Greg Schiano of the Buccaneers. In addition to these four coaches we could also potentially see Tom Coughlin let go with the Giants, and Leslie Frazier let go in Minnesota. If the Cowboys and Lions miss the playoffs I see both Jason Garret of the Cowboys and Jim Schwartz of the Lions being let go.  There is always a surprise coach fired to, I could see that being Mike Smith in Atlanta.

I think there will be 8 open head coaching positions. That gives 8 people the opportunity to be an NFL coach. One potential target could be Penn States Bill O’Brian. This guy has a tremendous offensive mind and has proven he can be a head coach. Rex Ryan and Mike Shanahan will be targeted to be head coaches. Lovie Smith will be highly coveted after being let go by the Bears last season.  Black Monday is truly a sad day for many NFL coaches and families.
